Slings, clamps and grabs are not required reducing operating time, removing the risk of load surface damage and making stacking and location easier and more efficient. The new generation of magnetic lifters utilising permanent rather than electromagnets offer significant operational advantages: • Reliability and toughness • Compact and easy to operate • Independence from external power supplies provides built in safety. Safety which even allows their use with dockyard cranes for loading and un- loading vessels • Magnetic flux leakage is undetectable The result is a safe and simple to use lifting system which offers reliability and exceptional value for money. Quadrapole Technology Tecno- Lift systems utilise the patented quadrapole magnetic circuit. It provides the power of an electromagnet combined with the autonomy of a permanent magnet. Power is concentrated into the load the ‘ neutral crown’ guaranteeing perfect insulation of magnetic flux loss. Air Gap Air Gap between the magnet poles and the load reduces the efficiency of magnetic flux transfer between the magnet and the load, reducing the effective lifting capacity of the magnet. Surface roughness, rust, scale or paint can all contribute to an effective ‘ air gap’ increase. The usable safe working load of the magnet must therefore take into account the size of the air gap. Graphs of performance are provided with each magnet. If there is any doubt, as with other lifting operations, the views of a competent person should be sought. Carl Stahl magnetic lifters are designed to work safely at practically encountered air gap levels. Load, Section Thickness, Flexibility, Susceptibility If the material section is thinner than that specified with the lifter magnetic flux linkage between the lifter and the load is reduced, reducing the safe working load of the lifter. Long loads can flex and may peel from the magnetic lifter. This can usually be avoided by using more than one lifting module suspended from a lifting or spreader beam. The efficiency of a magnetic lifter depends on the magnetic properties of the load, they should only be used with ferrous materials. The safe working load of the magnetic lifter is reduced if it is used with alloy steels or cast iron. Annual Inspection and Certification As with other lifting equipment lifting magnets should be given a thorough inspection at legally specified intervals. This inspection can be undertaken by Carl Stahl technicians who will conduct magnetic flux density measurements and if appropriate pull off force measurements. Mag Phase De Mag Phase Mag / DeMag Simply rotating the mag/ demag lever by hand activates / deactivates the magnetic circuit. Operating the lever is a simple process. Undue resistance is an in- built safety warning as the lever only operates freely if an effective magnetic circuit is being made with the load. A self locking safety catch traps the lever in the mag position. The lever can only be returned to the demag position once the catch has been disengaged. A two handed operation builds in safety for the load and the operator.

MaxX Permanent Lifting Magnets The newest patented magnetic engineering allows lifting weights of up to 20– 50 times of the weight of the magnets. The magnets are protected against accidental release. These magnets are secure, because they are independent of an electric power supply. Safe lifting is possible even if there is an air gap or a rough surface. The load can be quickly and easily handled with one person. These magnets prevent damage or deformation of the load. • Delivered with EC declaration • Hand operated lever for mag and de- mag • Vertical lift attachment available. Check section thickness for your application.
