Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies The Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies is a specialist work- related course for practising managers who wish to consolidate or extend their practical experience and obtain a nationally recognised management qualifi cation to enhance their career progression. It may also be appropriate for those who wish to change careers. You can study for the three- unit advanced professional award, six- unit advanced professional certifi cate or nine- unit advanced professional diploma – all units are at Level 7. The course is offered on a part- time basis on one afternoon and evening per week over one year or one evening per week over two years ( the duration will depend upon the number of units being studied). Units to be covered You will study the following core units: • Advanced Professional Development • Leadership of your Organisation • Management Research – Project and Presentation Optional units include: • Managing Change in Organisations • Management Research Methods • Strategic Planning and Implementation • Quality Systems and Management • Managing Finance for Strategic Managers • Strategic Marketing Management • Culture, Climate, Values Entry requirements Preferably a degree in a related subject or a Certifi cate in Management Studies and at least fi ve years' management experience. However, all applicants are interviewed, and you may discuss alternative entry qualifi cations at interview. Assessment methods There is ongoing assessment by assignment for each unit – this may consist of written reports or group and individual presentations Employment opportunities This is designed as a programme to be studied whilst in employment providing you with the opportunity to apply the theories considered during your study to your workplace.
