32 Rotherham College of Arts and Technology Higher Education Prospectus 2010- 2011 The Advanced Certifi cate in Management Studies for Sports and Recreation Managers is a higher level ( Level 5) course for managers already working in the sports and recreation industry. It also gives these managers the opportunity to gain diploma membership of the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management. The course enables professional recreation facilities managers to develop their knowledge and understanding of the industry. It provides the advanced level skills and sector expertise to successfully manage and operate facilities and services. The course covers a range of management disciplines including leadership, fi nance, human resources and marketing. The mode of attendance for this course offers the fl exibility required for those in the workplace as it is offered on a part- time basis combining attendance at the College, home study and e- learning and will take approximately 18 months to complete. Our tutor team work closely with all participants throughout the course to provide full support during every mode of delivery and attendance. Units to be covered You will study Personal Development and Communications at work plus four of the following units: • Leadership • Managing projects • Managing Change • Finance • Marketing • Human Resource Management Entry requirements Ideally a level 4 qualifi cation and experience in a management or supervisory role within a sports and recreation setting. However, informal applications to the course leader to discuss alternative entry qualifi cations are welcome. Assessment Methods There is ongoing assessment by assignment requiring attendance at the College, home study and e- learning.
