The BSc ( Hons) Applied Computing E Top- Up is awarded by Sheffi eld Hallam University. It is a fi nal year programme for those who have already gained an HND or Foundation Degree in a computing subject and want to progress to a BSc ( Hons) degree without having to take time out from work or move away from home. This course offers the opportunity for fl exibility around other commitments whilst studying for a university degree. The course ' tops up' previous learning by extending knowledge and skills. Students will study theoretical concepts and practical applications of computing technologies and their use in organisations. Studying for and obtaining a degree will provide greater opportunities for career development at graduate level. The newly acquired skills and knowledge will be an asset to organisations in all sectors and of all sizes and help organisations in their decision- making and communication processes. This degree is awarded by Sheffi eld Hallam University, with Rotherham College of Arts and Technology being the local study centre where students will attend. Modules to be covered You will study modules including: • Professional Practice • Managing Change • Data Warehousing and Data Mining • Business Appraisal and Infopreneurship • IT Project Management You will also complete a practical computing project. Entry requirements HND or Foundation Degree in a computing subject or an equivalent qualifi cation Assessment Methods Students need frequent access to a PC with internet access as the majority of the coursework and communication with lecturers and other learners will take place electronically and at a time that suits the learner. Students will also use the facilities at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology where students can meet with the study manager at the College to discuss progress on the course and meet with other learners.
