Skills Support for Students If you are studying at the College and feel that you need a little extra help to improve your study skills, we can offer assistance and guidance with: • Literacy and language, including English for Speakers of Other Languages ( ESOL) • Numeracy • Note taking • Assignment planning and preparation • Presentation skills If you have a specific learning disability ( e. g. Dyslexia) you are entitled to an assessment of support needs. Access to specialist software, additional support and extra help can be arranged if required. Financial Support Students on low incomes may be eligible for financial support. Assistance may be provided towards the cost of: • Travel to and from College • Childcare • Examination/ Registration fees • Materials, equipment and special clothing necessary for the course Childcare Assistance Students who are in receipt of benefits or on a low income and have dependant children, may be eligible for assistance with the cost of childcare. Places in College provision may be offered in the first instance. Where places are not available, or your child is not eligible for a place, payment may be made towards registered external provision.
