City and Guilds Hairdressing Level 1 FA111AT TCC FA111AR RVC A course for people wishing to gain basic hairdressing skills, enabling them to work as an assistant in salon areas. Your course will cover You will learn basic hairdressing operations, including shampooing and conditioning, assisting with colouring, styling hair and assisting with salon reception skills. You will also study salon health and safety, developing effective working relationships, preparing for hairdressing services and maintaining work areas. You must also carry out work in a real life salon as part of your course. You will also have the opportunity to gain qualifi cations in Functional Skills. City and Guilds Hairdressing Level 2 FA211AT TCC FA211AR RVC A course for people wishing to gain a broader understanding of hairdressing in practice to work as a junior stylist. Your course will cover You will develop your skills in a range of hairdressing services including shampooing and conditioning hair and scalp, styling the hair using drying and setting techniques, basic cutting techniques, perming and neutralising, basic hair colouring techniques, salon reception duties, developing effective team work practices and salon health, safety and security. You must also carry out work placement in a salon as part of your course. You will also have the opportunity to gain qualifi cations in Functional Skills. Entry requirements You must have Hairdressing level 1 and GCSE grade D or above in English. You will also be required to successfully complete an interview with a course tutor, which will include some practical workshops. City and Guilds Hairdressing Level 3 FA311AT TCC FA311AR RVC A course for people who wish to enhance their hairdressing skills reaching a higher level of technical competence and develop supervisory skills by supporting or developing junior employees. Your course will cover You will study advanced hair techniques and promotional skills. Subjects include health and safety, promoting products and services, enhanced consultation techniques, advanced cutting techniques, advanced colouring techniques, colour correction. Styling and dressing long hair and creative hairdressing are also covered with an opportunity to enter national hairdressing competitions and work creatively at external events. You must also carry out work in a real life salon as part of your course. You will also have the opportunity to gain qualifi cations in Functional Skills, hair extentions and perming. Entry requirements NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing and experience of salon work. You will be required to successfully complete an interview with a course tutor and you will be expected to purchase a uniform and kit and pay for educational visits which form part of the course. It is essential that you work in a hairdressing salon throughout the duration of the course. Length of course One year Modes of attendance such as day release are available if in full time salon employment.
