BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts ( Acting/ Musical Theatre) Level 3 FA502AT TCC A course suitable for people wishing to gain a more detailed understanding of acting, singing and dancing through theoretical and practical exploration. Your course will cover You will study core practical units in principles of acting, developing movement skills for actors, developing voice and theoretical units such as historical context of arts, performing arts, business and front- of- house operations. You are able to select from a range of specialised options including acting, singing or dance, or a combination of the three. As part of the course you will be required to take part in theatre visits and should be prepared to work outside of normal college hours when required. Your course will cover This course is designed for those wishing to work creatively and technically in the theatrical and performing arts industries. A key aspect of this course is the ability to carry out research and to implement this in the creation and realisation of visuals, including stage settings, lighting and sound. You will study a range of practical units such as lighting design and operation, sound production, stage design and construction and stage management. Foundation Degree in Performing Arts: Drama Level 4- 5 FA901AT TCC This degree is awarded by Sheffi eld Hallam University. The Foundation Degree in Performing Arts: Drama is designed to give students skills relating to their chosen career pathway within the performing arts industry. Vocational training is underpinned with academic learning that will provide the skills and knowledge needed for a career in the entertainment/ performing arts sector. Your course will cover You will study modules including Skills for the Workplace, Performing Arts in the 20th Century, Practitioner Skills, Performance Skills, Community Arts Theory and Practice, Research and Analysis in the Performing Arts, Advanced Practitioner Skills, Advanced Performance Skills and undertake a placement in a performing arts sector negotiated with your tutor. The College has its own studio theatre which is equipped to a high specifi cation and regular performances take place before a range of audiences including the general public.
