Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 FE230VR RVC This is an advanced level course for people with reasonable experience of motor vehicle maintenance and already have the essential skills and knowledge required. This course will provide the technical knowledge and practical skills to equip students with the necessary skills to be proficient within the motor vehicle trade or consider further study at technician level. Your course will cover You will build upon your existing skills and improve your diagnostic skills to be able to assess, diagnose and rectify vehicle engine and transmission system and component faults. The course will further develop your knowledge of vehicle chassis systems and auxiliary electrical equipment and enable you to remove, repair and replace equipment, complete systems and rectify faults. Students will be based in the newly built £ 2.5 million block which provides industry standard equipment and facilities. You will further develop your health and safety awareness in order to ensure your own safety and that of others while working on a motor vehicle. You will also have the opportunity to gain qualifications in Functional Skills- improving your English and maths as well as furthering your IT skills through the use of computers, their common applications and those specialist systems used in motor vehicle diagnostics. Entry requirements Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 2 Or A good standard of education and experience of working on motor vehicles. You must also have a keen interest in motor vehicle service and repair and successfully complete an interview with a course tutor. Length of course One year Qualification Successful candidates will be awarded the level 3 City and Guilds 4101 Certificate in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Assessment You will be assessed through practical activities by your tutors and externally set exams throughout your course. Progression Once qualified at this level you can choose to work in the motor vehicle trade as a motor vehicle engineer, take further technical courses or with appropriate experience, take on a supervisory or management qualification. You may also wish to consider a Higher Education course. 73 make it happen BTEC First Diploma in Engineering Level 2 FE160VR TCC A course for people who have a keen interest in engineering. This course will develop the required knowledge and skills in order to progress to advanced courses or take up employment in the engineering sector at an entry level. Your course will cover You will study both mechanical and electrical engineering units and develop your knowledge of working practices in engineering. You will learn about engineering processes and equipment and be introduced to their control technologies. You will learn about electrical and electronic principles and gain an introduction to computer aided design ( CAD). As well as developing the knowledge to underpin your practical skills, you will study units in maths and science to support your knowledge of engineering fundamentals. You will learn how to understand and interpret engineering information before beginning to develop your knowledge of engineering materials selection and casting and moulding techniques. You will also have the opportunity to gain qualifi cations in Functional Skills and improve upon your GCSE grades. Entry requirements Four GCSEs at grade D or above. Mature students who have a more varied profi le of achievement will be considered by interview.
