Land Based Intro Whether you are interested in plants, nature or animals, a career in the great outdoors can be extremely rewarding. Our courses will help you to gain the skills, knowledge and qualifi cations you need to get the job you dream of. Working in horticulture requires dedication, skill and hard work but your efforts will be rewarded as you step back and see what you can achieve. We are able to work outdoors in all but the most harshest of weathers thanks to our polytunnels and greenhouses. We have extensive land and gardens to work in and our work includes the planting and propagation of plants, shrubs and trees as well as creating interesting and varied horticultural projects. If you have a love of animals, you will appreciate the facilities and animal stock that we have to help you develop your interest further. We have an excellent collection of species including domestic and exotic animals and we operate a farm and land that accommodates our livestock. You will have the opportunity to develop your confi dence as you work with and care for animals, as well as improving your team building skills as you work with others. Our fl oristry courses are aimed at helping you gain the required qualifi cations to become a professional fl orist. You will learn skills and techniques that will enable you to undertake a variety of professional tasks and you will develop your knowledge and understanding of fl oristry as you work closely with our dedicated and experienced team of tutors. We have specialist fl oristry facilities and our students benefi t from taking part in shows, events and competitions where we have enjoyed great success in the past. Floristry student Hannah Mackrory was awarded the City & Guilds Medals for Excellence ' Highly Commended Award' for her coursework achievements. Hannah received the certifi cate to mark the excellent work she had done throughout her course. The achievement was a great inclusion for her CV especially as City and Guilds frequently provide internationally recognised awards and qualifi cations! Kim Roebuck never predicted she would return to education, but her love of animals encouraged her to start the National Diploma in Animal Management. After leaving school, Kim began working in a local kitchen but later found the role to be unsuitable after falling ill and being diagnosed with a seizure disorder. Kim's change in direction enabled her to go from strength to strength on her college course where she was able to benefi t from the support of her tutors. She has now secured a place at the University of Lincoln where she will be studying Animal Management and Welfare. Maegan recently received the annual ' Student of the Year' award from local organisation the Maltby ( Rother Valley) Lions for the fantastic progression she has shown throughout the National Diploma in Animal Management. Maegan began studying with the College through the school links programme when she was a year 10 student at the City School in Sheffi eld. Throughout her College education, Maegan has shown tremendous improvements to her attitude, motivation and skills and as a result has succeeded with the goals she out to achieve. Maegan progressed on to a degree in Animal Welfare at the University of Lincoln.
