Student Success " This course has made me a better musician and has given me a better understanding of musicianship." Philip Sinclair has gradually worked his way through a number of music courses with the College since starting on Level 1 Production Skills and is now studying the Foundation Degree in Performing Arts: Music. His ultimate goal is to become a professional singer/ songwriter - a career choice that he now feels is more achievable with the knowledge and confidence he has developed throughout his course. A number of units on the degree including Performance and Practitioner skills have enabled Philip to develop in a number of different genres as well as improving his ability to read sheet music. He was also able to take advantage of the work experience he carried out at a local music production company where he was able to work in a professional environment and learn industry based skills. Philip would recommend the course to those with a passion for music explaining that; " The course is a challenge but being encouraged to become more creative using my own material and initiative has helped me to become a better musician." Upon completing the Foundation Degree, Philip plans to attend Sheffield Hallam University where he hopes to top up his qualification to a full degree. 21
