70 Student Success " Coming to college was a life changing journey for me." Katrina Burrows achieved 100% for her results in the Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Counselling. Her interest in the subject began when she had reached the stage in her life when her children had grown up and she was able to concentrate on her own needs. She regarded people as her passion and felt the need for a more meaningful and fulfilling career. This lead to her enrolment on the Introduction to Counselling course, from which she later progressed onto the Level 3 and Level 4 Diplomas. Katrina's thirst for knowledge gave her the motivation and enthusiasm to succeed and despite finding the course challenging she valued the style of learning and enjoyed how it prompted her to broaden the scope of her thinking and research. She was also grateful for the support of the tutors who helped to " create an appropriate, realistic learning environment, providing warmth and encouragement along the way." Katrina described her experience at the College as a " life changing journey" which has now enabled her to study the BSc Therapeutic Counselling course at Leeds Metropolitan University whilst also carrying out work at the Pathways Family Centre and Cruse Bereavement Care. 71 |
